The Picchiotti Shipyard



The Picchiotti shipyard is a shipbuilding plant with ancient traditions located in the heart of Viareggio.
The shipyard was established in 1575 in Limite sull'Arno and was one of the most renowned in Italy throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, later moving to Viareggio, becoming a reference point for Italian shipbuilding. From its ports, ships of all kinds have come out, from sailing ships to military ships for the Italian Navy and for foreign navies, up to sports boats and pleasure boats.
In the 1950s, some Agave-class and Aragosta-class minesweepers were built for the Italian Navy on a NATO order with funds from the M.D.A.P. some minesweepers saddle Agave and Lobster class.
At the beginning of the nineties the Picchiotti shipyard was bought by the Perini Navi group which absorbed its traditions and experiences.
